Congratulations to Angeline Aguinaldo, Evan Patterson, and their collaborators James Fairbanks, William Regli, and Jaime Ruiz at the University of Florida and the University of Maryland, College Park for winning Best Paper Award at the 2023 AAAI Fall Symposium on Unifying Representations for Robot Application Development (UR-RAD) for “A Categorical Representation Language and Computational System for Knowledge-Based Robotic Task Planning”. The research described in this paper presents a significant shift in the approach to robotic task planning by employing the category of copresheaves (C-Sets) and Double-Pushout (DPO) rewriting to model world states and actions.

Angeline accepted the award on behalf of the team in Arlington, VA
